They train our kids for war. This they call compassion & concern.
They train our kids for war. This they call compassion & concern.
I call BULLSHIT! It's nothing more than kiddie boot camp! In a word, brainwashing.
This story was on the front page of our local newspaper recently.
About face: Military component added to McComb alternative school
When students at Summit Academy start school on Aug. 7, it will be like nothing they've ever experienced. The alternative school, operated by the McComb School District, has done an about-face, adding a military component to the curriculum and a heavily structured day for all students who are sent to the campus for violating school district policy.
From the moment the roughly 50 students in grades 7 to 12 step on the bus until the moment they stop off in the afternoon, they'll be required to follow strict rules. Once at school in Summit, they'll take their place ..ed footprints outside and stand at attention.
Awaiting them will be 58-year-old Sgt. Maj. Robert McHenry, a seasoned Marine and former ROTC instructor in the East Marion School District.
"I've been wearing this uniform for over 30 years," McHenry said during a visit to Summit Academy on Friday. "It can be fun, or it can be their worst nightmare. There will be no abuse (by any staffers), but rules will have to be obeyed. ... It's our way or the highway."
Of course that's just an excerpt. To really grasp my misgivings you have to read the whole article. And it's available online here:
http://www.enterprise-journal.com/articles/2008/07/21/news/01.txt
But more disturbing to me than the article was the way our community praised this program of fascist indoctrination. It disturbs me to see how easily we Americans surrender our rights and how conditioned we've become to smiling and thanking our oppressors.
One in our community wrote a comment upon this article which quite galled me in it's ignorance. They commented: "It is sad that the community has to take action to control young people today and be the ones to discipline them, instead of the parents doing this at home. "
I could remain silent no longer, thus added my own comment.
Yes. Once upon a time it was the parents who disciplined the children. They were OUR children & OUR responsibility. And as such, family honor and loyalty to ones family were of great personal value.
And it was this sentiment which led young men to enlist in the service. Especially in time of war. We fought, not to protect corporate interests or a political ideology, but rather to keep those who would threaten our families from arriving upon our doorstep and telling us that we must conform and comply with the standards of their State or face the consequences of forced labor and death camps.
If you've still a family member who enlisted or was drafted into the military during WWII you should consider what they fought for. If you've a relative who died in that war, you might honor their sacrifice by considering what they believed they were giving their life for. It was for you! They died so that, in this day and age, you might still know a nation wherein one was entitled to the pursuits of Life, Liberty and Happiness!
And in their era, we as Americans were afforded such freedom because of the fact that at home we were each given the understanding that wrongful and shameful behavior would be dealt with firmly. Parents were expected to tame their children, and parents did so without fear of intervention by the State. And though not all parents succeeded, most produced honorable, responsible and decent citizens. Each generation earned it's rights anew.
Still though, as the saying goes, one bad apple can ruin the whole bunch. And we're more prone to pay attention to tragedy than we are to praise a job well done. Thus the truly abused children, though a comparitive minority, gained the attention and sympathy of the nation. Bit by bit we began to relinquish our rights as parents.
Resultingly the State was able to pull a swift one on us and steal custody of our children. The system now in place says we must care for the needs of our children, but that we are no longer considered competent to attend to their well being and can no longer be trusted to shape who they become. Parents must now live in fear of the State in terms of disciplining their children. Thus, in effect, OUR children are no longer ours but THEIRS by default.
This is what we have become, and I believe, it is what those who would see the citizenry become dis-empowered have always intended for this nation.
By taking power from the parents, but not the responsibility, the State has, over time brought about a society as was envisioned and forewarned by the author George Orwell in his novel 1984. In it he wrote of a society wherein our sole loyalty was to be to the State. Family loyalty was considered to be a punishable "thought crime". And our children were not only encouraged to report upon us, but were taught that they would be rewarded when they did so. And that too is what we see today.
The notion of family values or the expectation of a child's obedience to his or her parents is in sharp contrast to the needs of a government which seeks to rule rather than serve it's people.
Far better that the parents be kept fearful of their children and be forced to let the children do or say as they please until the State steps up and pretends to be the hero by saying, Mom, Dad, you seem to be having a bit of trouble with your child. Here, let me raise them for you. The parent then becomes, in the eyes of the child, a bumbling fool, something obsolete and unworthy of their respect. The State in this manner wins the hearts and minds of our children to manipulate and control them as best suits of it's ever changing whim.
In a word, our youth become slaves. Generations are bought and sold without notice. Individuality vanishes and great minds cease to be produced. In their place nothing but trends and empty minds. Sheep are ill equiped to observe their lack of freedom.
This has, in one manner or another, been the way of all dictatorial governments. It was the way of Germany in 1934 with their Hitler Youth campaign. And it is, in part, what our grandparents and great grandparents fought against.
As to Summit Academy and any similar institutions, be they guided by social workers or drill instructors, I have no doubt they are staffed by those whose intentions are good at heart. But such institutions are no substitute for a parent empowered with the freedom and authority to properly raise a responsible and decent child.
I find it saddening to the point of disaster that we as parents should continue to allow government at the federal, state or local level do our job for us.
If we've the courage to speak loudly against rising fuel costs, could we not also find the strength of spirit to do our children the kindness they deserve? Have we still the will to raise our voice, individually and collectivly, in adamant opposition to the policies which have led us in this woeful direction? Will we make no attempt to resist the virtual kidnapping of the ones we love most?
We must ask ourselves, is it desirable that our youth be raised by police in order to keep them from being, one day arrested? Or does it better please us to police our own children, and in so doing arrest the continued erosion of the sovernity of family and the importance of our children being raised by the people who love them?
I fear we've forgotten our place both as parents, and as Americans. Daily we are increasingly told to ""Think Green". But, the home is also an environment worth saving.
We still have the right to oppose the direction things are going. And we owe it to our eventual grandchildren to make the effort.
I call BULLSHIT! It's nothing more than kiddie boot camp! In a word, brainwashing.

I fear we've forgotten our place both as parents, and as Americans. Daily we are increasingly told to ""Think Green". But, the home is also an environment worth saving.
We still have the right to oppose the direction things are going. And we owe it to our eventual grandchildren to make the effort.

George Carlin tribute on Dominion Radio Deaux
Comedian George Carlin dies at age 71
Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble,
went into St. John's Health Center in Santa
Monica on Sunday afternoon complaining of chest
pain and died later that evening.
That was 3 days ago.
Yeah.
I noticed.
30 (+) years of laughter & now you're dead.
Ya won't be giving me any new laughs.
It sucks & I'm dearly sorry I (we) lost you.
This is my humble (& less than all inclusive)
homage to your body of work.
I loved you, and will still!
And for what (little) it's worth, I've a
"history of heart trouble" too.
Shame neither of us have delusions about an
afterlife or I'd say "See ya real soon"!
Had I ever had a chance to have met you, I'd
have told you that you were my preacher. No
doubt you'de have noted the irony.
But rest assured. I was already converted.

As the title suggests, rapid adaptive repositioning is
the singular rule & the only way to win.
Too deep?
Fuck it! Wherever & whatever fits, ya know?
Just hurry the hell up about it!
Beyond that, you can take it any way you like.
Huh. Guess that's kinda redundant, but whatever.
Enjoy!

16-Error 404-2-5-04b
17-Error 404-outro-a letter to Murphy's Law and my successors
Playback time: 1hr 23min
NOW THE STORY BEHIND THE MIX:
By no means "New" by Error 404, I this time present to you a severely off format
(neither particularly Gothic, Industrial nor 80's) mix which I began in 2003 &
completed in early 2004. It had been intended as an album (of sorts) chronicling
my thoughts upon everything & absolutely nothing. But every time I tried to edit
it down to CD length I was dissatisfied with the result. Subsequently only 5 people
have ever heard this original version in it's intended sequence.
If you are a long-time Error 404 listener, then you've likely heard parts of this
project before. But I now present to you, in all it's noisy, sample laden, Hip Hop
riddled & imperfect glory, a project which is at once loathed for the memories it
represents, and yet also is held close to my heart if for no reason more than the
fact that completion of track 15 nearly killed me in my efforts to give it life.
All tracks were done in the only manner I, at that time, knew how to do them. Every
bloody sample was ripped from CD to WAV or transferred to P.C. from VHS or answering
machine tape. Then each sample was rendered & combined using the infamous (and godz
fucking awful) Windows Sound Recorder on a cheap Pentium 3 HP desktop from Wal Mart.
YEAH!
Screw computing nostalgia! This shit took FOREVER!!! Damned bastard machine! The day
I was able to upgrade, I went seriously Office Space on that 'puter!
Anyway, Here's the Behind The "Music" on the tracks:
1-Error 404-disclaimer:
Probably obvious, but consider that at the time Napster & other P2P users
were being severely persecuted (urm... I mean Prosecuted) by the record industry.
2-Error 404-HBOintro-people R importantKILLERS:
Really just a sort of primer. Needless to say, I'm not too fond of many of my species.
3-Error 404-God has a Hard-on7.1c.2:
Just how life was when I began this. The War in the Middle East had begun in earnest
and was a fitting metaphor for the end of a lousy (near) 10 yr marriage. More on that later.
4-Error 404-fuck it...it's gonna be long:
Just having fun really. Bit'o political commentary but really just refining a technique.
5-Error 404-Black Hole SunShatnerAve Dracula exact 2D:
More fun & refinement. Oh & BTW, the R.I.A.A. sux arse with both jelly & syrup!
6-Error 404-CHARLES MANSON3:
Nothing more deeply intended than paying homage to my favorite crazy person.
7-Error 404-Logic Sux...badly:
Urm... Yeah, this was directed solely at the joys of marriage to the selfish & irrational.
I mean 19 affairs I could put up with, but 20?! Fuck that shit!
In truth though, it was my discovery that she'd repeatedly abused our son which was the
last straw. Infinite infidelity was just a flesh wound.
8-Error 404-IN A-GARBAGE-DA-VIDA:
Well, put simply, I'd discovered my soon to be Ex had sent me a spy. She can be heard at the
end of this track & again in track 10. She foolishly thought her meth polluted, gun crazy ass
could use my love of playing video games with my kid & my involvement in P2P against me in the
divorce.
9-Error 404-9-11...it never happened. Did it? (edit):
Not so much homage as acknowledgment of my LEAST favorite crazy person.
10-Error 404-EVIDENCE (exhibit 1a):
Whilst I was speaking to my ex's spy girl, my brilliant ex allows her voice to be heard in
the background protesting the fact that I was openly recording the conversation. Idiot.
Yeah. Sorry. This was just too much fun.
11-Error 404-Ludacris powerpuff:
Just a fun & easy combining of stuffs.
12-Error 404-trekkie police:
Again, a fun combining.
13-Error 404-Sniper1b:
This whole track is summed up in it's start, wherein a girl (the ex's childhood & life-long
friend) calls ME to find out what the fuck is wrong with her friend's brain. Seems I get to
have informants too! Only mine are voluntary. Her friends, professors, sister & even her mom!
WTF?!
14-Error 404-8 trackDIVORCE in a manufactured home community:
So, like 3 months into our separation she comes to pick my child up for visitation. And the
very first thing she does is introduce me to her "fiance" whom she met while on the job at
a strip club (which was the 1st & only job she ever held in our entire marriage). Funny. but
I'm not the least surprised to discover that while never marrying him, she has had another
child with him (conceived before our divorce was even finalized) & that he's (allegedly) a
meth dealer. HA! Whatever.
15)-Error 404-In Response I Thumb My Nose At Thee(OK-Now it's dark.):
Seems she became disenchanted with her new life. She began leaving an endless number of
messages on my home answering machine during hours she knew I'd be at work. Guess I was
supposed to feel pity & reply.
Hee! Actually, I did. Reply I mean. I made this track. Took a while & had a heart attack in
between, but I finished it & e-mailed it to her the very day I got home from the hospital.
Her calls ceased.
16-Error 404-2-5-04b:
Nothing more than an announcement sent to each of my friends the day I got my divorce.
17-Error 404-outro-a letter to Murphy's Law and my successors:
This one should be self-evident.
Hope you've "enjoyed". And, yeah, pardon all the hip hop. It just seemed to suit
what I was trying to express. Only other music which might have worked was opera
& I think that just might have killed me!

A review of the current Dominion Radio mix by DJMX
Review: SubCreature
Dominion Radio’s SubCreature mix begins with a delightfully dark sample from
Hodge’s 1980's version of Flash Gordon. Ordinarily, this is a film I’ve
long written off, but what a mistake on my part. True, I’ve got the whole Sith
empire as my psychological crutch, my little shield against the big, bad world. But where
did it all start? Well, with the original Flash Gordon comic strip version off course,
but the strength and focus of the SubCreature mix woos me to say: the uber
sexiness of Max Von Sydow’s imperial voice.
And Max is a tone setter of dark tone setters.
It’s a dark side thing, light-siders just don’t understand.
Selecting Ming the Merciless as the opener (an opening that seeks to gracefully
bombard your ears with otherworldly fear, corruption, and dominion), DJ Mistress
X firmly invites us to leave the shackles of this reality (a reality mired in the blood of Iraq
and a totally fucked over infrastructure) and look through the otherworldly lens
of a thoroughly dystopian musical narrative. True, listeners of Dominion
Radio are already attuned to such delicacies, it’s what we come for in the
first place, and DJMX’s newest mix doesn’t let us down.
Ming’s xenophobic tone proves to be only our jump station, our hub where
we surrender our passports, close our eyes, and cue up Ming the Merciless,
attuning our minds to his specific brand of menace. And then, just as we
feel we are synced up to the film (and wait patiently to hear more from that
wonderfully sinful camp classic), we find ourselves falling into the void of
the Muse, into the bubbling chaos (and it’s a creatively controlled chaos)
of Euterpe and Melpomene’s realm ( the muse of music, and the muse of tragedy).
Bleeding in effortlessly, picking up the tone and message of the Ming
inset, “Civilization” by Angels in Agony slips us away from a warm blooded
adversary to a decidedly colder, android perspective. The charm here is the shift. Due
to the intricate weavings of the mix, the charm isn’t ruined by matching the wrong
song to the right intro. Without skipping a beat, DJMX quickly plunges her aural
addicts back into her lair of velvety darkness with surgical flair.
Society, when viewed from such a chilled perspective implied in “Civilization” (and this
is highly subjective on my part), is a series of ones and zeros, the cold whirr of gizmos and
the hot jolt of gel-circuitry. Angels in Agony reminds us that while we utilize mechanical constructs,
and whiz toward the creation of self-conscious machines, we are conceivably trapping
ourselves in a Mary Shelley style labyrinth, one in which our creations may turn out to be
butchering monsters--the true reflections of our shadow-selves.
I think this point is very clear in the lyrics. For example, the tone
of “when the moon was ours before the machines wiped our souls
when our hearts stopped pumping” is clearly apocalyptic, and decidedly
mythic in scope. Ingeniously, Angels in Agony demands its “moon” to be a
universal symbol of grandeur, human wonder, and warmth (keeping in
alignment with the moon’s traditional feminine hue), and that’s the
understated tragedy. Though we hold the tender feminine in our
grasp, we crush it by creating a perfect (or is it imperfect) android mind incapable
of understanding such subjective truths. In this way, we arrive at the
horrific theme of the song, a theme that rubs our noses in the story of
human genius turned ironically on itself. Instead of being satisfied with the
feminine mysteries of the moon (that splendorous domain of Hecate and
the dark feminine), we cash in for the cyber-erotic, selling out to the vanity
of narcissistic masturbation instead of fulfillment in the human dynamic. And
the song reminds us that there’s a dark sexuality in being suddenly
dominated by one’s own creation, that same homoerotic theme that Victor
Frankenstein ran away from so desperately in Ms. Shelley’s novel. Ironically,
that theme catches up to humanity when our own creations reformat us--“the machines
wiped our souls.”
What a fascinating catastrophe.
The ending of the song is just as powerful as its beginnings mainly because of its
insistence on a synthesis of feelings, four strong feelings set to an oddly attractive
free verse ramble that makes sense the more times you chant it:
degenerate
dimension
destructive
directive
“Degenerate” reminds us that an android based civilization (and this is based
entirely upon my quirky perspective) is something made from ice, the cold
ice that logic, or the mindset of the military-industiral complex, depends upon for its
“destructive directive.” Line two’s “Dimension” demonstrates its own
potent appeal; it’s the small word in the song whose roots undermine the entire
platform. The dimension of the android is arguably the cosmos it inherits from
its fallen masters; but focus in tighter, and “dimension, destructive, directive” gains
more friction as it rubs against our present day worries over expansionist trends,
especially the variety of invasive expansionist trends from the slumbering America
who has strangely become more like Shelley’s Daimon than anything else (though
no “true American” would admit to such a viewpoint). Seriously, who needs another
McDonald’s in China or another square inch in Iraq? And this is the type of cultural
overthrow the song is describing. The android infestation of “Civilization” is horrible
only because we know of other cold minded infestations present in the world
now. Whether the group meant for the song to be read this deeply is up for debate,
but when placed against the backdrop of SubCreature and Ming the Merciless, this
particular reading of it seems appropriate.
“Civilization” and the SubCreature mix drives us hard against the wall of technological
irony and its implied moral lessons. We ought to fear not only the civilization of cold android
minds that may enslave us, but the minds in our own “Civilization” who are driving us toward
one nightmare or another (presently, we have plural dooms, all we need do is kick it up a
notch one way or the other). As a chip in the mosaic of DJMX’s mix, “Civilization”
fulfills Ming the Merciless, and the mix (whether on purpose or not) leaves us in the chill wake
of deeply disturbing questions, which of course, are requirements for dystopian
fans everywhere. This is why SubCreature rocks my brain...

SubCreature mix by Dj Mistress X on DOMINION!
James Rush (aka Darth Botis) who made the following request:
typing fingers in the realm of dark fiction. When I hear
the beginning of BT2, Iggy Pop, I'm motivated to ask,
can you orchestrate a mix of songs around the "Angry
Bob" universe (dystopian world can quite wrong). I need
to hear a few air raid sirens, ironic songs about epic
human failings, dark futures that cannot be redeemed,
humans stretched past commercial capitalisms ensnaring
traps."

(Titanium Poem: Recycling Era)
ones I am focusing on (so much so they are
driving me to drink...only on weekends) are:
Project Titanium and Project Ilyana. Project
Ilyana is an attempt to blog a draft of a
(for lack of a better term) "Looking Glass"
novel that hinges on a central character
(Ilyana) and her rise to power in a dark
fantasy world. Both projects make references
to Dominion Radio--a splice of real life
in the middle of my imaginary scapes.

Wow!
I just had an epiphany of sorts regarding myself.
I seem to pretty much boil down to three elements
as motivating factors in my life choices.
I love you!
Oooooo! New toy!
And
Hey! Back tha fuck up off'a'me!
And pretty much always in that order & degree of importance.
1) Romance, love & sex.
2) Electronics, clothing & cosmetics.
3) Politics, social issues & world events.
Damn! Taken me all these years just to figure that out?!
Slow learner I guess.
Hell, at this rate, I'll be 80 before I finally conceed
that I just might be past my prime.
By 90 maybe I'll finally accept that when it comes down
to it, for better or worse, I'm just a guy after all.
But not just yet, K?
Damn! Hope I die before I get old!
Oops! Too late!
Hey! Wait a minute!
Fuck you (ME)!!!
